Kakeng Her is an International Special Programs Advisor in the Office of International Education at Georgia Tech. Kakeng is part of the On-Campus Internationalization workgroup and works primarily with TECHsplore, the I-House Living Learning Community, facilitating Intercultural Learning, and as the Chair of International Education Week at Tech. Prior to joining us at Tech, Kakeng spent two years as the Transitions and Program Associate for international students at Western Illinois University.

Having lived and studied in China and Taiwan as well as working with international students for over 4 years, Kakeng has gained cross cultural experience teaching English, helping international students transition to the United States. Kakeng has traveled extensively through East and Southeast Asia as well as throughout the continental United States. She has traveled to over a dozen countries on three continents. Her dream travel destination is Turkey and Australia. For fun, Kakeng loves to find new places to try on Buford Highway or Pleasant Hill and roam through the aisles of Buford Highway Farmers Market and find new snacks- usually with boba in hand. When she has free time Kakeng likes to cook, read, and catch up on the latest movie and TV shows.

Kakeng has earned her Master's in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University and her Bachelor's in Political Science and History from California Baptist University. She can also speak Mandarin Chinese and Hmong.
